Good Morning all,

Happy Birthday Len

Len! Since it's your Birthday and all, thought I'd give you a break!

Here is my TOTD to each and everyone of you.

Keep Your Dreams Alive

Nobody ever said it would be easy....
experiencing life,
discovering that it has
downs as well as ups.
At least the disappointments
don't last very long
and don't affect you as much
when you know that no matter what--
you have much to look forward to.

You really do!

Think...
think of yourself as a seeker--
see the process of discovery
as endless, and yet
find peace in the fact.

Be...
be a lover - of life,
of people, of nature, and
of nuances unfolding within.

Reach...
reach out and realize your goals:
stretch yourself, take risks,
and try to understand
and extend your capabilities.

Listen...
listen more and more
to your intuition, and know
that it holds a wonderful wisdom.

Explore...
explore and rediscover
the creativity you felt as a child,
and envision anew those things
you may have stopped seeing
on the way to growing up.

Remember...
remember to keep your dreams alive,
and happiness will always be
in your heart.

- Sue Mitchel

To all, have a GLORIOUS day!

Hugs and kisses,

My dear friend Len,
Heard you were celebrating a birthday. Happy 43rd Birthday!
You are such a swell guy. Hope you have a fantastic day with your loving family.

I also celebrated my birthday last month. It was an eye opener for me. I had mixed feelings and my emotions got in the way. I don't know why this birthday REALLY affected me.

I felt life was moving So quickly. I dwindled on the past, things I had accomplished or still wanted to accomplish. I also felt like retirement was not far off. That really scared me. I should stop thinking.

Rosa,
Your birthday party was so much fun. You looked gorgeous. Thierry we thank you for being so thoughtful and caring about all her friends. It made our evening truly special.

Luke, Dina, Marco, Fil, it was so nice to see you all again.

Luke,
Sorry about the leg room. I completely forgot how tall you are. If I had a sun roof, I am sure your head would have been sticking out. We sure had a good chat. I hope your computer is repairable.

Dina,
I can't wait to see your pictures. Have a super day!

Mary C,
What are your plans for the summer?

Hugs and kisses to all.

Good day everyone! Just wanted to write to wish you all a wonderful weekend.

I can't help but feel so connected with you all. The reunion has really changed my life in so many ways. Many good things have happened since the reunion. I am so proud to call you all my dear friends.

Len,
Have faith. Things will turn out alright for your son. He is young and strong. Children recover quickly. Be strong for your son as he needs you both the most now. Will keep you in my prayers. Hugs.

Yesterday, I needed a plumber. He wasn't even good looking. Sergio was his name. He was suppose to come for 8 am but showed up at 9 and stunk like a skunk.

When you got to go you got to go. Pricey it sure was. I hour of work and $150. I really think I am in the wrong profession.

I am not plumber but I tried to keep the cylinder in the tank from falling apart with wiring. It worked pretty well for awhile until I heard the dreaded words from my mom.... Il gabinetto no flush.

I check out the problem. There was nothing left for me to tape together or wire. The cylinder completely disintegrated. Pretty much hit or miss. Sometimes it works and other times I cause more damage. I am usually a clutz when it comes to fixing stuff.

It was convocation week at McGill. The campus was so pretty and nicely decorated. Convocation was held on campus under a huge tent.

Yesterday the actor Christoper Plummer was presented with an honorary degree. What a charming fellow and down to earth. Did you know that he is from Montreal?

His speech was so funny. He never attended university. He said he attended the university of life. His speach was given in both languages.

It would be nice if McGill presented me with an honorary degree when I retire. After all the hard years of labor.

My tour guides graduated yesterday. I feel like a proud mom. They came by to say goodbye and head home for the US. My kids have all grown up. I call all my students, my kids. It is a term of endearment.

Mary Anne,
Hope all is well. Big hello from me.

Dina,
I know I know I should call. I am so exhausted when I get home. I seem to lose my voice at night. My mom says that I talk too much. This is true at work. I am not that bad at home. Mind you, at the dinner table she just listens to me babble about my day and the funny stories. Well who else am I going to talk too...my teddy bears. At least you have your kitty cat. xoxoxo

Mary C.
Will you be coming to Montreal over the summer? We are now in summer session. The campus grounds is really nice. It feels more like a beach party. Everyone from the office towers across the street come over and eat their lunch on the grass.

Luke,
Where are you? Hope you are ok. xoxox

Tony,
Hello. What are your plans for the summer? Any vacation?

Carol,
Hi bella!
Hope all is well. xoxoxo

Filomena,
Thanks for sending all the funnies. Hope to see you again.
I am sure Adrianna must be excited for school to end.

I know my nephew Jonathan is. We went to see a movie "Over the Hedge" Really really funny. I was the only one laughing in the whole theatre. There were a lot of little kids. Some of the jokes are intended for adults. I get a bad case of the giggles. Can't help it when it's a funny movie.

Wishing everyone a super wonderful weekend.

Ciao!
Hugs and kisses to all

Happy Sunday Everyone! Yes Yes I know I am in the office even today. A student donated a toaster oven on Friday I was excited until I saw how filthy it was.

Well I couldn't bring it home on the metro. Came down with my baby (car) and taking it home for a good cleaning. Oh man my mom is going to freak out when she see all the grease.

Marie-Anne also had a good point. Try to convince ur wife and she might have a good time. We are a fun bunch. At least think about it.

Marie-Anne,

Have fun at the Grand Prix. It's really amazing. I went to the Grand Prix in Trois Rivieres a few years back with hubby. What a blast (pardon the pun) LOL!!
Make sure you have ear plugs if you'll be close to the track. Very much needed. I did.
All in all girl, enjoy it. It's an experience. Hope you do meet celebreties. Make sure you have your camera in hand. Ya never know......

Di. I'm sorry I have to be direct here. I have not been "lurking" !! Doesn't sound good !! I was at the reunion, hugged you all, been at a couple of events, read all the blogs since then, and followed you guys here, to this one. Is that lurking?? Ok, I have to admit it... you guys make me smile:) Your sense of humor is contagious, what can I say? About Grand Prix w/e tons of good looking rich people in town.
I took my girls downtown on Saturday night to admire the Ferrari's. Yes, my wife came too. We had an eye-full and went home to dream about how it would be nice if we could park one of those in front of our home, just to make the neighbors raise their eyebrows :) (the cars I mean)
Oh well, Ferrari will have to try harder next time, to win.
Have a good week gals & guys.
FF
P.S. Marie-Anne, Get a new dress and auction off the dirty one! Announce it as a memorabilia of the Grand Prix. Hey, everyone made money this weekend, why not us folks!

Anonymous said...

FF,

I didn't mean lurking in the way you might think and yes. I agree. It doesn't sound good. I guess I should choose the right word properly. Sorry about that! Darn wine! LOL!!
Thanx for your candor, though. Was very nice and polite. Very much appreciated.
Glad you had a good time with all of your girls. Nice to hear. Well, as you said, the Ferrari might have to be for another time but isn't nice to dream???
BTW, not a bad idea for Marie-Anne's dress. Can you imagine this on Ebay:

Gorgeous dress for sale. Was worn at the Grand Prix and touched by one of the outboxes on the site. Really a memorabilia of a great event in Montreal....
Price: ???? Negotiable.

Hi Everyone!

Just wanted to write and say hello to you all. It is a really busy day in the office. Lots of visitors from the US.

Marie-Anne your story was cute. In regards to hugs. There are hugs and then there are hugs that you need to avoid at all cost. I have had hugs that squashed the life out of me. I was totally disgusted and had to peel myself off. So I know exactly how you feel about hugs. Looking to forward to seeing you again.

Dina,
I wanted to thank you for a delightful evening at your place. It was great to sit on your porch and have a girl talk. Very much enjoyed. Watching the reunion video was a blast. And I still don't remember all their names!!! Mind you the memories were grand.
You are one of my best Avon customers and true friend.

Rosa,
Forget the housework. Come back. I am glad the boy arrived safely. Time will pass quickly and you will be on vacation too. Now what type of haircut did you say you wanted....a mohawk..... Talk to you soon.

Luke,
Come back soon. I know your computer has been dead for awhile but we miss you. Someone lend him a computer....

Len,
How are things with your son. Any news about the surgery? Plans for the summer are probably on hold for your family. Will keep you in my prayers.

FF
Hi there. It is good to have you on the blog. Please keep writing. Did I meet you at the reunion? Unfortunately, I not good with names. As for your wife, bring her along to our events. She will see that we are a friendly group. Nothing to fear. We all enjoy each other's company.

Have a great afternoon all!

Rosa,
Listen to Darleen. She knows what she's talking about. I concur with her. See ya soon for you know what!

To all, call Darleen for Avon. She's cool. She's straight with you on things you should buy and not. In the meatime, it's fun having her over when your order is ready.

Time for my daily grocery shoping. Catcha all later.(as I keep repeating.)

Hello my Cheeky Monkeys!

Just passing through. I'm at a friend's house and took the opportunity to check in. Mine computer ist still on ze fritz! 433 e-mails ?!! No time for that stuff ... but thanks to those who wrote to me.

Len: I'm sorry to hear about your son. I'm sending all of my Prayers and focusing all my energy towards you. Be strong, my friend.

Faithful Friend: As Webmaster, I welcome you (belatedly) to our blog. As long as this Blog is here your comments are also welcome. But I think we would all appreciate it when you can use your REAL name. "Änonymous" has had a history of "bad vibes" on the Pius Blog.

My friend the techy checked my PC. It's not the video card or the power supply. It's probably the motherboard, so I don't really know when it be repaired. Bummer.

So, to all of you be well, be good, and if you're on vacation ... PARTY!!!

Luv,

Luke Skywalker

PS:If you've got my phone number gimme a call. If not, get it from someone who does. Ciao.

Lukey,

Hey buddy boy! Whatza happenin'?? Good of your friend to let you in. We did miss you. Hope we'll see you again soon. You call me for a ahircut when you can. Not the week of the 10th of July. My hubby is on vacation. Gonna do things with him. Who know's when you'll read this. I'll call you.

Faithful Friend,
Hope everything is good on your end. Feel free (once in a blue moon) to come in and just say hi. Don't even have to talk. Would be nice to hear from you.

To all, have a wonderful evening and smile! It's needed once in a while.

Hi Everyone,
I had planned to start my day with a TOTD that I wanted to share with you. Instead, I got a call from my close friend who told me his 19 year old daughter, Jenny, was killed in a car accident yesterday on the way home from the beach. The newspapers did not mention how beautiful and how a great young woman she was. Her girlfriend lost control of the car and Jenny died while the other 2 girls are now fighting for their lives. I spent the day with his family and tomorrow I will help with the funeral arrangements. There are no words of confort for such a disaster. I can only imagine how unsurmountable this pain will be. Everything else in life seems so trivial. May God bless us all and watch over our children, when we can't.
Len, our prayers are with you guys, now and on the 27th. Take care everyone.
Faithful Friend (FF)

Hello one and all,

FF,

Oh my!! I am soooo sooooo sorry to hear that too. Not fair.
Please accept our sympathies to the families.
Thank you for sharing this with us. It will make people realize a lot of things, as well as life is too short.
Be well my friend and it's nice to hear that you and your wife are friends to the ones who need it. God Bless you both.

Len,
Like we all said, our prayers are with you.

To all, be safe and let the Angels guide you all.

Peace.

FF,
OMG was this the accident mentioned this past weekend on the highway? I am so sorry to hear the news. My heart goes out to you and this family. There is no amount of words that can take a life back.

To all that are travelling, be safe and as Dina said may the angels protect you and bring you home safely.

Luke,
It was good to hear from you. Sorry I had to abort my call. Lots of aliens in my office.

Dina,
The Avon lady will be visiting tonight. Better be ready. Looking forward to seeing you again my dear.

You are right about angels. I have read the most interesting book about angels. Just recently finished it. I always felt their presence. More so now that I read the book and understood their power to help and guidance.

MAS
Have a great time Paris. Lots of cute guys I am sure.

Rosa,
Have a wonderful trip. Will talk when you return. Remember not to a hug a cactus.

Len,
Hello. Hope your day is going well.

Tony,
Hello. Hope you are having a great summer.

Maria C.
Have a great summer.

Fil,
Looking forward to seeing you again. Hope your summer is going well. Say hello to your daughter Adriana and hubby too.

Carol,
Thanks for the directions. Looking forward to seeing you and the gang. Now what shall I wear is the question. A toga perhaps.

Mags,
Hope you had wonderful vacation in Italy. Can't wait to see you pictures. All the best to you and your family

As for me it should be a great summer. I am taking vaction time the last two weeks of July. I plan to spend time with my nephew Jonathan. He did well in first year high school.

We went to see the Canada parade last Saturday. It sure was fun, but very very long. My legs were killing me. Nearly had to carry Jonathan home. And he is 14!

This week has been extremely busy because of American 4th of July holiday. Lots of visitors.

Wishing everyone a great day!

Hiya,

What great people we have on this blog and as classmates. Very proud to be amongst all.

Len,
Amen, my friend, amen to that!

Darleen,
I see you had free time today to write. FINALLY!! LOL!!

Was good to see you Ms Avon lady. Glad you brought Luke along. Now he looks good, thanks to me. Hehe!! Hope you got home safe. Ya didn't call me when you got home. Let me know otherwise. (e-mail, phone call, etc....)

Peoples,
If you are all wondering about Luke, I gave him a haircut and he'll look dapper for next Friday.

Tony,
Thanks for the video clip
of the Italian soccer team. Was cool and my mom loved it. Believe me! It will be circulating. I am sure it already is. Be well, my friend.

Rosa,
Hope you made it safe, girl. Let us know if you can. Kisses.

FF,
Luke said he's tried or will try to delete some of the comments you requested for deletion. He still doesn't have his PC fixed yet, but he does go into his friend's once in a while. As you saw, he recently wrote. (Monday, July 3) Just thought I'd let you know.

To all the wonderful peoples on this blog, Be safe, be well, and have a good day.

Hugs,

Good Morning Everyone,

Dina,
It was so much fun to see you in action with the scissors. Your time spent with both Luke and I was precious and thoroughly appreciated. You made us feel so welcome in your home. Looking over your pictures and the memories of bad hair days. Too cute. As a young adult you looked stunning. Dina you are a beautiful woman with a heart of gold.

Sorry that I did not call. It was so late when I got home. Thank you for caring.

Hugs, xoxoxoxo
Luke,
Thank you for the company. The ride home on the 40 was hellish. The construction and narrow lanes are very dangerous and worse at night. Lots of trucks speeding and crossing over lanes.

I am glad that you are making progress and I am sure all good things will follow. Dina did an outstanding job with your hair. You look like a new man. Very dashing indeed. I hope you get your computer soon.

Hugs, xoxoxoxo

Have a great day to all!

Darleen,

I enjoyed both your company. We had fun. You are a wonderful person and you didn't have to praise me that high, but it does feel good to hear it from a friend and I thank you.

About the call, I was still up at that time. Hehe!! It's fine. It was nice to see you both got home safe.

Bad hair days?? WHAT!! I still have those TODAY. LOL!!

To all peeking in, a big hello. Hope we'll see some of you next Friday.

Hi Len,

I do hope all goes well with Alex. My toughts and prayers are with you.

Wishing everyone a happy summer!

Good morning all.

How is everybody?? Oh ya! I am still alive! LOL!!

Len,
How was your vacation?? Hope all went well. How's your son doing?? When is the surgery or did it already occur?? I haven't been on much and to scroll up to re-read would take a while. My prayers are still with you.

Btw, your last 3 TOTD's are true about the tests given in life within ourselves, our choices and responsibilities at hand, with philosophical aspects.

Ya got me thinking on them, and here is something I want to share, that might be of similar value. Correct me if I am wrong.

I believe that through every storm or problem
we face in life, the solutions are ours to find.
It takes a belief in ourselves and in our ability to handle the situations we must deal with.

We must accept our problems
and work through them. It won't always be easy, but a positive outlook will lighten the load.
Finding answers and solutions
won't be an easy task, but then neither is life.

But we broaden our horizons by the challanges we face, and each day
we must remember all the possibilities that life
has just offered us.

Believe and achieve.

- Sherrie Householder

Wishing you all a wonderful and blessed day (as Len said)

Be well!

Hi all!

I see the TOTD's are still in effect. So good to read them. All are true.

But let me ask you both a question. Where do you get all of them?? Do you both have books with these quotes??

Geez! I take my hat off to both for continuing every day. It's never ending. Keep it up! I enjoy to read. I am sure all (whomever is peeking) enjoy them too!!

My days have been filled with lots of stuff. Sorry I haven't written in a while. I will, however pop in from time to time and read whatever is said on this blog. It puts a smile on my face.

Big hellos to all, along with HUGE hugs.

Whoever was on vacation, hope all went well. For those who are going on vacation, be well, safe and enjoy.

Len,

Your TOTD's, along with Tony's, make me realize a lot of stuff that goes on in life. They put perspectives in my days ahead. They make me think!

Don't stop. Neither of you. Even if some of the old bloggers aren't writing, they are viewing and I am sure they appreciate them. Maybe it makes their days too.

When you write these, you let people know your inner self along with your thoughts. Also, to put a logical smile on those busy people's faces. I like that.

You both are wonderful people. Thank you.

Wishing everybody a beautiful day.

OH PLEASE LEN, don't stop TOTD's !!!

Ok here's one for everyone:

A wonderful Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less.
We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.
We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but earn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait.
We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom.

A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not
going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.
Remember, to say, "I love you" but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when
it comes from deep inside of you.
Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in yor mind.

God bless you all !

Keep it up Len !!

ANYWAY

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are honest and giving, people may cheat & betray you;
Be honest and giving anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between YOU and God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Hello. I am back in my serene place. Feels good.

Tony,
your two totd's are nice. True what they both say.

Children:
Let them be who they want to be and when they are raised well, with proper guidance, it's a bonus. When their childhood comes close to an end, when they become adults, they will know what to do and what they want for their future. But a hug now and then, no matter how old they are, won't hurt either. We all need those.

I bid you all a joyous day and Len, welcome back.

Bye

Good evening,

I finally had the chance to come back to my favorite place. I needed to read the TOTD's.
I liked reading your story, Len. It is very touching.
Life has a funny way of showing you things. Whether good or bad, we have to accept it no matter what we do.
This is my thinking.

Be who we want to be
Do what we feel like doing
And act on it
Write what we feel is right
When your heart tells you to.
So we do what we want to do
Learn what we have to learn
And whatever circumstances lie ahead,
They will be dealt with the only way we know how
With pride and courage
Even if we do not think so.

Keep up the good work Tony and Len. Thank you again.

Tinkerbell, you are so funny. Thank you for making me laugh.

Bye.

Tony,

How true!!

Hey!! This is a first. You must of either slept in, or posted later than you actually woke up?? LOL!! It's cool.

So, on this so called ok day, I relaxed. I got an e-mail from a friend that touched my heart!

I thought I'd share it with you all. It's just to say that we do take things for granted and never realize what's in front of us. Read and you shall see what I mean.

It might be a little long, but it's really nice. I surely think it's worth reading. Some might of already seen it, but I hope you all don't mind me posting it.

Here it is:

The Sandpiper
by Robert Peterson

She was six years old when I first met her on the beach near where I live.
I drive to this beach, a distance of three or four miles, whenever the world
begins to close in on me. She was building a sand castle or something
and looked up, her eyes as blue as the sea.

"Hello," she said.

I answered with a nod, not really in the mood to bother with a small child.

"I'm building," she said.

"I see that. What is it?" I asked, not really caring.

"Oh, I don't know, I just like the feel of sand."

That sounds good, I thought, and slipped off my shoes.

A sandpiper glided by.

"That's a joy," the child said.

"It's a what?"

"It's a joy. My mama says sandpipers come to bring us joy."

The bird went gliding down the beach. Good-bye joy, I muttered to myself,
hello pain, and turned to walk on. I was depressed, my life seemed
completely out of balance.

"What's your name?" She wouldn't give up.

"Robert," I answered. "I'm Robert Peterson."

"Mine's Wendy... I'm six."

"Hi, Wendy."

She giggled. "You're funny," she said.

In spite of my gloom, I laughed too and walked on.
Her musical giggle followed me.

"Come again, Mr. P," she called. "We'll have another happy day."

The next few days consisted of a group of unruly Boy Scouts, PTA meetings,
and an ailing mother. The sun was shining one morning as I took my hands out
of the dishwater. I need a sandpiper, I said to myself, gathering up my coat.

The ever-changing balm of the seashore awaited me. The breeze was
chilly but I strode along, trying to recapture the serenity I needed.

"Hello, Mr. P," she said. "Do you want to play?"

"What did you have in mind?" I asked, with a twinge of annoyance.

"I don't know. You say."

"How about charades?" I asked sarcastically.

The tinkling laughter burst forth again. "I don't know what that is."

"Then let's just walk."

Looking at her, I noticed the delicate fairness of her face.
"Where do you live?" I asked.

"Over there." She pointed toward a row of summer cottages.

Strange, I thought, in winter.

"Where do you go to school?"

"I don't go to school. Mommy says we're on vacation."

She chattered little girl talk as we strolled up the beach, but my mind was
on other things. When I left for home, Wendy said it had been a happy day.
Feeling surprisingly better, I smiled at her and agreed.

Three weeks later, I rushed to my beach in a state of near panic. I was in no
mood to even greet Wendy. I thought I saw her mother on the porch and felt
like demanding she keep her child at home.

"Look, if you don't mind," I said crossly when Wendy caught up with me, "I'd
rather be alone today." She seemed unusually pale and out of breath.

"Why?" she asked.

I turned to her and shouted, "Because my mother died!" and thought,
My God, why was I saying this to a little child?

"Oh," she said quietly, "then this is a bad day."

"Yes," I said, "and yesterday and the day before and -- oh, go away!"

"Did it hurt?" she inquired.

"Did what hurt?" I was exasperated with her, with myself.

"When she died?"

"Of course it hurt!" I snapped, misunderstanding,
wrapped up in myself. I strode off.

A month or so after that, when I next went to the beach, she wasn't there.
Feeling guilty, ashamed, and admitting to myself I missed her, I went up
to the cottage after my walk and knocked at the door. A drawn looking
young woman with honey-colored hair opened the door.

"Hello," I said, "I'm Robert Peterson. I missed your little girl today
and wondered where she was."

"Oh yes, Mr. Peterson, please come in. Wendy spoke of you so much.
I'm afraid I allowed her to bother you. If she was a nuisance,
please, accept my apologies."

"Not at all -- she's a delightful child." I said, suddenly realizing
that I meant what I had just said.

"Wendy died last week, Mr. Peterson. She had leukemia.
Maybe she didn't tell you."

Struck dumb, I groped for a chair. I had to catch my breath.

"She loved this beach, so when she asked to come, we couldn't say no.
She seemed so much better here and had a lot of what she called happy days.
But the last few weeks, she declined rapidly..." Her voice faltered, "She left
something for you, if only I can find it. Could you wait a moment while I look?"

I nodded stupidly, my mind racing for something to say to this lovely young
woman. She handed me a smeared envelope with "MR. P" printed in bold
childish letters. Inside was a drawing in bright crayon hues -- a yellow beach,
a blue sea, and a brown bird. Underneath was carefully printed:

A SANDPIPER TO BRING YOU JOY.

Tears welled up in my eyes, and a heart that had almost forgotten to love
opened wide. I took Wendy's mother in my arms. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry,
I'm so sorry," I uttered over and over, and we wept together. The precious little
picture is framed now and hangs in my study. Six words -- one for each year
of her life -- that speak to me of harmony, courage, and undemanding love.

A gift from a child with sea blue eyes and hair the color of sand
-- who taught me the gift of love.

Life is so complicated, the hustle and bustle of everyday traumas
can make us lose focus about what is truly important
or what is only a momentary setback or crisis.

This week, be sure to give your loved ones an extra hug, and by all means,
take a moment... even if it is only ten seconds, to stop and smell the roses.

This comes from someone's heart, and is read by many
and now I share it with you...

May God Bless everyone who receives this! There are NO coincidences!

Never brush aside
anyone as insignificant. Who knows what they can teach us?

Peace guys,
Ciao!

Why must there be bad news as well. My thoughts go out to the family of the young lady that passed away today at Dawson. I used to attend that exact campus while taking my photography classes. We never know when our time comes up.

Uh-oh ... hide yer daughters an lock up your wives!

I'm baaaaaack!!!!

You thought I was lost forever, eh?

Six months can seem like a very long time, my dear freinds. If not for my retarded but faithful "Amiga 4000" computer. Poor thing. It has one meg internal member.

What have I been doing all this time?

I think I got to see Limbo.

Limbo is located somewhere betwix Heaven and Hell ... a little above Purgatory. Limbo is where the souls of unbaptised babies were sent. Instead of facing issues such as women having the right to celebrate mass, the Pope instead decided to "abolish" Limbo. Now that's advanced thinking!

(The thoughts and opinions expressed by the author do not neccessarily reflect those of the Universe).

I thought I'd just get that out of the way quickly.

I am in no way anti-Christian. I do love God and Christ and I sometimes pray. But I beleive that the Holy Bible has been misinterpreted since the Church was founded nearly two thousand years. I remember playing the "Telephone Game" in my youth. In the end, the message we used at the start was completely distorted by the time it got to the last person. Imagine the same thing happpening over a two thousand year period. Not to mention greedy, power hungry individuals who may have twisted the Bible's message. (Time and men may also have changed the Koran).

Okay ...let's move on before someone thries shooting me for having an opinion.

I am so "steeped" to be back!

I noticed that a few people seem to have disappeared into blog limbo. I hope yer all okay, eh?

I've noticed that a few longtime Pius X Bloggers are still around. I'm giving out a shout to Tinkerbell, Tony B and Dr. Len. Y'all keep this Blog alive & kicking and that tickles me. The TOTD were all great and I think kept the Blog going.

Got a lot to do. Over 500 messages in my e-mail!! I don't know what to do! Some want to enlarge my nether part while others are letters from long-lost friends. There's a lot to sift through.

I'm sorry I can't make it to the restaurant on Friday. I hope I'll see all my Peoples very soon. I've really missed all of you. I'm gonna have to clean up my little Cafe and reopen (where's that stoopid robot?!).

It's good to be back Home ...

Anonymous said...

Hey! Lookie here. Lukey Luke is baaaaaack!!

Hiya buddy. See ya been busy. We was worried about you. Glad to see you're well and back.

Don't leave us high and dry again. After all, it is YOUR blog.

The robot must of went in hiatus since your six minth departure, or simply ran out of juice! It's batteries must of leaked! LOL!!

I am sure you'll get him up and running again real soon.

As for the cafe, I went in a few times and it did look grim. I wanted to get the cob webs out but I too was a little busy. Sorry.

Heck! I can go for a coffee and bailey's soon. Let me know when you'll start cleaning it up. Then maybe we can re-open it again.

Anyhoot, a big hello to all and catcha's all later.

Ciao,
xoxo

Luke Fallon said...

Mmmmm ... coffee and Baileys!

Yes, it has been a long, lonely time (paraphrasing Led Zepplin).

It took so bloody long because folk were trying to find me a new motherboard cheap. They looked far and wide and found nothing. Zero. Zip. They said the piece was hard to find, it being outdated and all. Finally, I got pissed off and went to the trusted Yellow Pages. Ironically, I found a place only a couple of streets away from me. And they had the motherboard I needed - their last one. It ripped a big hole in my pocket, but at least I got it back.

It has been tough not to be able to do my work. I didn't realize that six months could feel so long.I kept myself busy doing drawings the old fashioned way, by hand. I also used my old "Amiga". But it wasn't the same. I couldn't do the work I love. Now I'll try to turn my sketches into three-dimensional art. I've also been writing a bit.

And my poor robot. He couldn't recharge 'cuz Hydro cut the power. He's up and running now, helping me clean up.

I've been thinking about going "Kojak" - like so many of my classmates (Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk). I need something that's not only low maintenance but NO maintenance. Plus I'll be more aerodynamic.

Well, gotta go and suck up to all the clients I lost.

Other than that everything is shiny ...

Luke Fallon said...

Woah, Len!

Good thing you did a little clarification. Folk have all manner of bad ideas in their heads always stirring up contraversies. It's a shame really. They would add the "suck" to the "really good" and come up with something sick and lewd. Luckily, we don't have those kind of people on THIS Blog.

Dr. Len! Good to be in your company again. Every TOTD is a nugget of wisdom. And we all need a little wisdom.

During the last six months I was forever looking for something to fill my empty time. After seven years I decided to try out my old flute. It sounded like a bird stuck in a vacuum cleaner. Eventually, I played a few Jethro Tull tunes but I was way out of practice.

WARNING MEN: Soap operas are ADDICTIVE! Do not - I repeat - do not watch even a few minutes. You will be lured in like a bug to a zapper. You will think of nothing else. That's my little bit of wisdom.

Gotta get back to work ... you know what I mean.

Anonymous said...

Geez guys! Stop with all that sucking up stuff. Too much for me to handle. LOL!!

Luke, see ya at the cafe, buddy. I'll reserve your Baileys. Cool with you??

Btw, going Kojak might be good, but don't know if it will suit you.

If you do it, tho, a la Kojak, the beard/goatee has to go. We don't want ya to look half hairy now would we?? LOL!!

Ciao dude and it's really great to have you back!

Heyo Tinkerbell!

Nice to see youzza still here!

I2-82 is working on our cafe. I just can't convince the poor little guy that it wasn't his fault that the place got a little dirty. He's even volunteered to work overtime.

As for my hair, how about a nice tonsure - y'know like my Monks? My head can't be completely hairless. I was thinking of keeping the goatee. I'd look like a biker or a wrestler. Dye it red or something.

(By the way, my family and friends said that the cut you gave me was the best I've ever had. Me mommy was quite impressed).

I'm slowly easing my way back into operating my computer. It all seems new to me but I'm a quick learner.

I2-82 just told me the cafe is ready and open for business. See y'all there!

Tony B: I really liked that last one. Keep sending them in!

Luke Fallon said...

Buongiorno a tutti !

(I hope I didn't mangle that too much).

LEN: Great story! I came to realize that I've been a ragpicker for a long time. I always seem drawn to the underdogs - or vice versa. (See my new essay).

Tinkerbell: When it comes to hair you are an artiste, Girl!!! The only vanity I indulge is my wonderful hair (See?!). You are a true pro so that I greatly value your opinion. If I could sell one of my kidneys or something, I'd ask you to give me "the best cut ever" again.

On a far more serious note, I've got to vent.

I think this year was one of the worst on a global scale. One event in particular disturbed me. The shooting incident at Dawson College was a terrible tragedy, especially for the student and their parents. The only victim that died was the daughter of one of own classmates, Louise Hevey. My deepest, sincerest sympathies go out to her and her family.

I watched the panicked students running out of Dawson on TV while on the radio I listened to one student on his cell phone describe what was happening. I sat there stunned. How could this be happening - again?! Had no one learned anything from the horrors at L'Ecole Polytechnique, at Columbine? After the incident at Dawson there were several other school shootings, the worst in the Amish community in Connecticut. The murderer shot children only seven years old!!! The Amish chose to forgive the man. That's a part of their beliefs. We don't have to share that feeling toward this monster.

Writing this brings back memories of what happened at Pius X in 1979. A janitor was stabbed because someone wanted the answers to final exams. This incident in no way compares to the others I've mentioned. I knew, in a casual way, the guy that did it. He in no way was a murderer. What happened was more of an "accident". He was caught red handed, probably panicked and "defended" himself. You'll notice that I use a lot of quotation marks; that's because I don't have all details. One thing that I am sure of is that this incident was not premeditated murder, unlike the other cases. The man has done his time and must live with his memories of what happened.

It all comes down to this: how do we protect our children? How much is too much? How much is not enough? If they feel like they're living in straight jackets, they might feel like prisoners themselves. If not enough, they'll feel exposed and vulnerable.

There doesn't seem to be one correct answer. However, I think it would be wrong for us to just live in fear. Fear is the mind killer that freezes our hearts. I think this is a subject that will be discussed for years to come.

Luke Fallon said...

During his recent visit to Canada the Dali Lama appeared at a discussion about spiritualism. The other guests, in their designer suits, were debating what form of spiritualism Buddhism followed. While these people were talking, the Dali Lama was trying to adjust the strap on the red “Canada” cap he had been given. When the same question was asked directly of him, the Dali Lama put on his cap and looked at the others. “Organized spiritualism is not necessary,” he said. “Only one thing matters, compassion. Compassion towards everyone and everything in your life. Compassion does not require organizations. Once you start treating everyone with compassion, you will find out what love is”.

After my six month absense, my mail box contained over 900 items! It was a chore to sift through all of them. There was more crap than I've ever seen. (BTW I will be responding to those who have e-mailed me).

Most of it was spam. Some wanted to deposit $6 million in my bank account until the revolution ended. I would then be rewarded with a percentage of the savings. Oh yeah, here's my friggin' account number.

I was offered to see what a girl can do with a horse. If it doesn't involve the horse wearing a saddle I don't wanna know.

A whole bunch of them offered to increase the size of my Love Missle. Oh please!!! I've seen examples of the results and I can't help but shiver.

Bottom line - what the hell is wrong with these people?! There's lots of professional help out there. Put down the horse and dial the friggin' number!

One day at Pius X, a girl came up to me in the caf and gave me a print with David Bowie's image on it with the title "Alladin Sane". She came from the printing area so I assume she was taking the course.

I also remember that it was one of those bad days and that the picture really cheered me up. I don't remember her name and I'll probably never get the chance to thank her myself so I'll do it here.

Thank you, mystery girl. You really brightened up my day! :)

He says he's been breeding fish for 26 years. He gave me a little advice then ended with:

"If you don't do any of the above, then they have lasted about as long as they can and the fish store would like them to last. The fish has endured 3-4 months of constant torture and mistreatment, then finally dies. You go buy another and the cycle repeats."

Torture and mistreatment? So now I'm some kind of murder? Am I the one with the problem or is this guy just a jerk?

Hey Anonymous ...

D'ja loose yer marbles or somethin'??? I can't even curse your name 'cuz ya didn't even leave one! Hey, Blog space doesn't grow on trees y'know.

However, I noticed that you were real persistant. Just for that I'll give you the prize for being #800. I'll give you a prize - some painting or something. But to get it you must e-mail me. Ha!

Ok Anon! It's now 12:36am.

Not quite around the 1am mark. LOL!!

Luke, it's cool! I like being quizzed!

ANON, ya you! Haha!!

It's my quiet time after a heavy load during the day and I don't mean washing my clothes.

I actually open my PC later in the evening after my day. I listen to music, read, send and delete many e-mails and read articles on how I can look better! Hehe!! Kidding! But do read articles.

I download music and by the time I finish, I come in here and put my 57cents in!
That's when it ends up around the 1am mark!

Oh, and if you know me like the others, I am a night owl. Hows that for your answer??

Congratulations for stretching out the 800 mark.

As for the bed being interesting........I don't work and it's interesting with my morning sleep. While you wrote in the blog yesterday morning, I was still sleeping. Hehe!!

Btw, are you and Blogula the same people?? Just guessing......

Ciao and be well.

PS. By the time I wrote this and publish, it will be around 12:46am. Still way b4 the 1am mark! LOL!!

Good to have you back. Thank you for the king words.

As for your PC, does it have 9 lives like a cat! LOL!

Hopefully #8 will last quite a loooong time. If not, # 9 will arrive and maybe it will be on its last life line or its last leg! Hehe!!

Ya know I would tell you if your face was dirty, even though I'm not Sicilian! Haha!!

Be well and a bientot!

Ciao y'all!!
